Philippians 1:3-6   I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will continue it until the day of Jesus Christ. Last fall, because of the direction of your pastor, your church focused on inviting friends who needed Jesus. You responded by working together and inviting your friends. What a day!  Do you remember the excitement as the guests began to arrive and you anticipated what would happen in the service?  Although the guests came in different sizes and shapes, they all needed a connection …  a connection to you, your church and to Jesus. Some friends were saved and changed that day! But it was more than just a great day! The simple strategy, called My Friendship Connection set in motion a momentum that would see men, women, boys and girls come to Jesus for months to come. In fact, many pastors have told me, “Our church has not been the same since last November”.  There was a coming together, a single focus and the body moved in unison.  It was a powerful demonstration of what happens when you work together. I can only imagine what will happen when thousands of churches across North America work together on one day to intentionally reach their friends for Christ! As an outside observer and co-author of My Friendship Connection, I was so proud of you, your pastor and what you did together.  I have read the reports over and over and I get excited every time I read them! Thanks for being a part of a special group of pioneers, leading the army in an effort to change our churches and our nation. Many times I have prayed for you and thanked God for you and your efforts. I am confident that He who has begun a good work in you will continue to perform it. Let’s do it again! Give it your best effort and let’s work together to reach OUR friends for Jesus.  As you work at your church, I want you to know that you are not working alone. I am excited to report there are over 500 churches that will touch 34 states, Canada and Australia as they join with you to invite their friends to come hear the life changing message of Jesus.  We continue to gear up for the greatest day of outreach in the history of the SBC.  Obviously, churches from other denominations are joining with us and several whole denominations have said they want to be a part of this. If you were at the convention in Louisville you heard our president, Johnny Hunt say, “When the southern Baptist ship stands tall in the water the other denominations benefit and their ship will stand tall in the water also. But when our ship is low and it is very low right now, all the other ships lay low in the water.”  We can change that and we will when we work together to simply reach our friends.  I pray these devotions will help you determine to pray for, invite and compel your friends to come. Who do you know?  Who can you invite?  How will God use you to reach your friends?Your friend,Vernon BradyMy Most Wanted ListThese are the names of the people I will pray for, invite and trust God to work in their life. _________________________                             ____________________________ _________________________                             ____________________________ _________________________                                        ____________________________ _________________________                                         ____________________________

Good morning SHBC,

Hey guys and gals–hope you had a great weekend and that the Lord blessed you in the services on Sunday. Wanted to pick your brains a little on Monday.Do you think we serve a big God? The obvious answer is yes! We have a big God! Do you think we can have 500 in Sunday School on November 1st? That is our next mission…we are calling this 1of500.com and are challenging our classes to double their attendance on that day. Why do we focus on numbers? They reflect souls…what do you think teachers? Can we do it? I am interested in your comments…

Hey SHBC,

God totally rocked the place this past Sunday. He blessed with two more saved and couple more baptisms lined up for next Sunday. What a joy to baptize ten persons on Sunday night, and then the fellowship after the evening service was great. For any that stayed for the fellowship–you saw our need for a fellowship hall that will hold our people. God, we need a miracle!

Bailout Sunday was a great time….I will give the final tally on Sunday of what God did through His people here at SHBC, but as of this morning, the people of SHBC have gave 27% more for our first Sunday offering than any of the other first Sundays of the year. Wow! My prayer is that many people stepped out for the first time and began to tithe. Thanks to those members that gave the extra for the effort. God is good!

With our new year beginning in the life of our church–what are you expecting Him to do? Our next big emhasis is what we are calling 1of500.com We are asking God for 500 in Sunday School on November 1st. Do you think He can do it? I am interested in your comments..

Monday Morning Thoughts

shbc_cross_color.tifWell, ain’t God good? All the work and efforts for the month of August paid off with 49 professions of faith and many community projects completed and a church that is flat out fired up for the cause of Christ! Thanks to everyone who made this month a success, whether it was giving the money to pay for the Angel Food or going to a house to work for a while…it is all kingdom work! To God be the Glory Great things He did and will continue to do through His people. The one thing I do not want this to be is a check off the box and I am through kind of thing. I want this to be a habitual thing…helping others in Jesus name.

We closed the month down with a great time with the Praise team from Gardendale First and also message from Kevin Hamm. It was a great way to end the month. Also, last night after the service, one of our dads had the awesome privilege to lead his daughter to the Lord. Praise the Lord. This next Sunday we will be baptizing ten persons as of this note. What a great way to start out our new year! Speaking of new year…next week is “Bailout Sunday!” Going to be a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Have a great week

Post your thoughts–

Wow! That is all that can be said so far about the work the Lord is doing this month. Last Sunday, the Lord blessed with four joining our church and two people being saved in our evening service. God is good. This Saturday is “Live out Loud” Day for the town of Brookside. We will be working in the village and also throughout the community. If you cannot be a part of this action, please pray for all involved. Pray for many souls to be saved. So far we have had reports of 16 people saved and remember we have been praying for 30 souls to be saved this month through our people. This Sunday everyone be sure to wear your fish hook shirts…that is my story and I am stickin to it shirts! If you were not able to pick one up I think we have a few youth shirts available…see Jere

 See ya Soon

All I Can Say is Wow!

Did you feel the sense of excitement in the air on Sunday? God is doing a big work in the life of SHBC, and this is what we have been praying for…for over a year we have been praying for a fresh wind of revival to sweep through the place. Boy, God has started the fire of revival here! Yesterday was nothing less than awesome! What a joy to see three go through the waters of baptism and our youth leading three to Christ! That is 6 for the month…so we got 24 more to see our 30/30 come to fruition.

To top off the evening, God blessed us by three of our staff sharing their testimonies and God blessed during the invitation last night with three coming to join our church and one man asking for the church’s forgiveness as he publicly repented. Wow!

“Got a Bite Day” is coming up–you doing your part?

Let me know about what ya think God is doing and what you want Him to do in your life?

Hey SHBC,

Another great day in the house of the Lord on Sunday. Many new faces we are seeing in our services. Are you ready for this month? Last night in our services we all learned how to develop our personal testimonies by following the same process that Paul did with King Agrippa. May you have the boldness this week to share your own personal testimony. Pray this week as we will begin the process of knocking on doors to share Christ without fear. Our youth group will be knocking on a section of houses on Sunday afternoon.

What are you wanting God to do in your life on a personal level this month and that it will continue into the future? Post and we will pray together that this will happen….
